Watches are a top luxury item, ones that can be used to mark special occasions and be passed down generations. I have always been interested in luxury watches and finally got my first one last year, the IWC Portugieser, to celebrate my 30th birthday.
As much as I love looking at and purchasing watches online, there’s nothing quite like seeing them in person. I love going to showrooms and being able to hold the timepieces in your hands, admire all of the intricate details, and (of course) try it on.
When I first got interested in watches I was introduced to Watchfinder & Co., a pre-owned watch specialist that buys, sells, and part-exchanges luxury watches, and I had watched all of their great YouTube content. Founded in 2002, they have decades of experience in the industry and it was great to learn from them all those years. They have a global presence in cities such as London, Paris, and Hong Kong so it was extra exciting that they have opened their first showroom ever in America, right here in Midtown of New York City. The location is so convenient and iconic, right beside Rockefeller and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.
I went for a visit back in September and had a great experience visiting the showroom. They are currently operating through the pandemic and are accepting clients by appointment only. We felt very safe with their health and safety precautions. The showroom has a nice modern man cave feel and I was so excited to check out a few of their amazing watches they have available to purchase.
The first watch I tried on has been my favorite for as long as I can remember: The Omega Speedmaster. I’m a huge fan of the chronograph design in general and this is arguably the most iconic chronograph in history. This was the first watch worn on the Moon. The amazing story of the watch matched with its sharp black dial makes it a timeless piece.
Watchfinder & Co. purchases watches from sellers all around the world and pricing is based on many factors such as the watch condition and original packaging. For example, this Omega Speedmaster still had and comes with all of its original packaging. It was incredible to see in person.
The next timepiece I tried on was the Rolex Submariner, one of the most popular Rolex’s ever made. I first laid my eyes on this watch because it was featured in the classic James Bond movie. If you’re talking about watches and menswear, this watch will no doubt pop up. Unbelievably classic and forever timeless.
Make sure to check out Watchfinder & Co. ‘s website to explore all that they offer or, like me, make an appointment to see these timepieces in person.
