This August Alicia and I attended one of the largest equestrian events in the USA: The Victory Cup at Governor's Island. It was such a fun day of watching polo and catching up with friends! Here are some outfit tips to make your polo match day a success:
- A Lightweight Blazer: A lightweight blazer adds the finishing touch and completes your look. It also helps to ensure that your outfit is dressy enough. Bright and patterned jackets are great, but I suggest opting for something with light colors and light patterns. I opted for a light grey windowpane suit in a cotton fabric to beat the heat.
- Short Sleeve Button Up: Don't stifle yourself by wearing a full length buttoned collared shirt. Opt for a short sleeve, lightweight shirt that is still formal enough to wear with your pants when you need to take your blazer off.
- Avoid Suede: While suede shoes can be a go-to for a summer ensemble, a polo match is not the place. For the most part, you will be outside exposed to the elements. You don't want to subject your suede loafers to walking on wet mud and grass. Avoid the struggle and stick to a pair of shoes you can easily clean afterward.
